A Thai Friendly Gospel Message

(Screenshot is a sample of Thai gospel tracts I have from traditional [drawing from Thai folklore and countryside living] on the top to modern [some apologetic, testimonies, modern pictures] on the bottom).

Bonnie recently challenged me to keep in hand a gospel message that I could share to anyone on the spot. It had to be short, concise, and culturally appropriate for a Thai audience to hear. This was actually quite challenging, mainly due to the last part of sharing it with someone who has a Buddhist mindset; there’s quite a lot to unravel. Buddhism doesn’t have the concept of an almighty creator nor is the understanding of sin the same as a Christian. In fact, the Thai language doesn’t have concise words for Sin, God (with a capital G), forgiveness, holiness, etc. Witnessing thus can easily pass through the ears and out of the everyday Thai.

I have found this gospel tract very useful for reaching out to Thai’s who are in their 30’s or older, the crowd that holds to some of Thailand’s religious beliefs and customs. Below is my modified version, with some translation choices in Thai equivalent for those who can read.

Today, you are invited to join the Kingdom (earth) of God. The King of Kings (ราชาทั้งปวง) himself, the Lord Jesus Christ; Creator of heaven and Earth, of everything seen and unseen, beautiful (งดงาม) beyond description, ruling and reigning with great power, (พระองค์ได้) welcoming you to come. The price for you has been paid (คาราค่าตั๋วเข้าของคุณ พระองค์ทรงจ่ายไห้แล้ว). You are (คนสำคัญยิ่ง) special to the King because he himself created you and gave you life and all good things.

The King himself is presenting you with the gift of entrance to this eternal Kingdom. An expensive price has been paid for you. The high price paid was the very precious blood of the King of Kings himself. His life blood represents all that He is. He gave everything for you so that you can have a relationship with Him now and in the life to come. Will you reject a gift from such a great King?

This Kingdom is an eternal Kingdom and will never fade away. It is more real than the world that you are living in right now. In this Kingdom there is no pain, no sorrow, no weakness, no fear, no sin, no death, no evil, and no suffering. Everything that is good and beautiful in this life will live there but it will be perfect. Nothing evil or bad will ever enter this Kingdom.

But first, before you can enter this Kingdom, all darkness (ความมืด) must be (ทำลาย) destroyed from your life Darkness has come (เข้ามาสู่โลกโดยความบาป) into our world through sin. บาปคือสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นเมื่อเราไม่เชื่อฟังพระเจ้าพระผู้สร้าง  Sin is what happens when we donʼt obey our Creator King and sin leads to darkness, suffering, and the cycle of death.

When we humans worship or give offerings to anything else other than our Creator King and God, it is called sin and brings death. When we break his moral laws or precepts, it brings death. And we have all sinned and will experience death. The only way to break this cycle and stop the power of death and hell is to completely surrender your life to the King, the Lord Jesus Christ and trust in Him to save you.

So, the choice is yours today. You may forget about the person who gave you this invitation, but you will never forget about the King they represent, Jesus Christ. He is the Almighty Eternal King of Kings. One day when you die, you will meet him because he is the judge of all humans. On that day, you will either be welcomed in to His Kingdom as a son or daughter or sent away because he never knew you. If he sends you away, you will lose everything forever. Donʼt let this happen! Jesus can rescue you and your family.

If you want to know him, you can start today by praying to Him and asking him to come into your life and be your King. Ask Him to forgive all your sin, and give you a new pure heart. He will do it. Give your life to Him. Give worship to Him only. He is a good King and the only true God. He has defeated death and has provided all of the merit that every human needs to be saved.

If you would like to learn more about how to live as a son or daughter of the Kingdom of God (ใช้ชีวิตในฐานะของพระเจ้า), please (โปรด) contact me. I will be happy to speak with you and to teach you about how you can live for God.
